Mother's Day Mug Cake

This yummy mug cake is easy enough for little foodies to make themselves! Treat mum this Mother's Day with a sweet treat, preferably for breakfast!

¼ cup flour 

Tbsp cocoa powder 

¼ tsp baking powder 

2-3 Tbsp sugar 

Pinch of salt 

¼ cup milk  

Tbsp vegetable/coconut oil 

Tbsp nut spread or chocolate chips 


To serve 

Chopped nuts 

Ice cream/runny cream 


If you don’t have a microwave, preheat oven to 180°C. 

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, baking powder, sugar and salt. 

  1. Add the milk and oil and whisk to gently combine. Gently stir through spread or chocolate chips. Do not overmix. 

  1. Transfer to a mug (or ramekin, if baking) and microwave for 70-90 seconds or bake for 18-22 minutes (depending on size of ramekin) until puffy on top but slightly gooey. 

  1. Once cooked, top with nuts and ice cream/cream and serve immediately.
