This week we’ve got a real treat for our Classic Foodies - wild venison supplied by our friends at Raukumara Red. This will be used to make cute little venison patties served in lettuce cups with kumara chips and tomato basil salsa.
Any Gourmet Foodies out there will be familiar with venison as it regularly appears on the Gourmet menu.

Raukumara Red is prime venison sourced from red deer who roam free, so are guaranteed to be free of preservatives and chemicals.  Naturally tender, low in fat and cholesterol, iron rich, vitamin packed and high in protein, venison makes for a delicious and healthy option.

Adam Finlayson, a keen hunter and outdoor enthusiast, begun the company in May 2011. He was driven by a vision of bringing wild venison back into NZ homes, from field to plate. The name Raukumara Red comes from the Raukumara range, north of Gisborne in the East Cape where the deer is sourced.

Raukumara Red also gives a percentage of every sale to the Whinray Ecological Trust, which runs a kiwi release programme in the Gisborne region.
