Make Your Own: Apple Cider Vinegar Dressings

Apple cider vinegar – available to shop in the Food Bag Kitchen – is one of the most versatile ingredients to have handy in your pantry. Made from fermenting apple juice squeezed from crushed apples, people have been using it for centuries both in cooking and for other home remedies.

Here are three easy, quick dressings you can make at home using apple cider vinegar. Great for dressing salads, drizzling over roast veggies or adding to grain bowls.

Apple Cider Vinaigrette

Super quick and easy to make, this vinaigrette is a great go-to dressing and adds unique depth and flavour to the simplest of salads!

  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • Salt and pepper

To make: Mince garlic. Add all ingredients to a jar with a lid and shake to combine.

Honey Mustard Salad Dressing

This easy honey mustard dressing is a tasty addition to just about any salad or delicious with roast vegetables.

  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper

To make: Add ingredients to a small bowl and whisk together until well combined. Alternatively, add to a jar with a lid and shake to combine. Adjust sweet (honey), sour (vinegar) and salt to taste. Makes about 1 cup.

Tahini Dressing

This creamy, nutty, delicious tahini dressing will have you eating more salad than ever. The perfect dressing to keep on hand in the fridge.

  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 3 Tbsp water
  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Pinch of salt

To make: Mince garlic and add to a small bowl along with remaining ingredients. Whisk until well combined. Add a little more water if you want a thinner consistency.
