This homemade play dough recipe is simple to make, using only a few ingredients and perfect for entertaining the little ones for hours and hours on end! It’s inexpensive and can keep for months when stored properly. Go wild with the colours, or whatever you have available at home.

Homemade Play Dough Ingredients:

1 cup of flour (whatever kind you have on hand)
1/4 cup of salt
1 Tbsp cream of tartar (optional)
1/2 cup of warm water
Food colouring of choice (or multiple colours)

*Don’t have any food colouring on hand? Try these natural food colouring alternatives, instead!

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, mix together the flour, salt and cream of tartar.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the warm waters with a few drops of food colouring.
  3. Slowly pour the water into the flour mixture, stirring as you pour. Stir until combined, then knead with your hands until the flour is completely absorbed. If the dough is too sticky, you can add more flour until it doesn’t stick at all.
  4. Repeat the process for whichever colours you want to make.
