In Season Produce: A Simple Guide to Eating Fruit & Veggies Seasonally

In Aotearoa, we are lucky enough to have a wide array of delicious, fresh produce grown throughout the year. However, some fruit and veggies only grow at their best during different seasons and periods of the year. See our round up of our current favourite in season produce, as well as a look into what’s going out of season soon and what’s coming in.

In season produce

Eating seasonally will revolutionise the way you eat and shop for your weekly produce. Not only will it save you dollars, but the in season produce will be at its best – this means sweeter and more delicious fruit and veggies!

As well as taste factor, in season produce has a higher nutritional value due to less time in storage and in transit from farm to table. Eating what’s in season means eating locally, as anything not in season in New Zealand will need to be imported. So eating seasonally helps reduce our food miles and is a more sustainable way to put food on the table!

At My Food Bag, we create recipes with the seasons, highlighting the freshest and most delicious produce in your bags as it changes throughout the year. See our current faves below and check out our recipes on how we like to use them to create delicious, fresh and healthy meals!
