About Catherine:

Pilates has been a passion of mine long before I started on my journey to become an instructor. I discovered Pilates over 20 years ago whilst working as a mental health nurse in Sydney. I have always been active and loved high intensity exercise and as a result my body was strong but lacking mobility, I experienced lower back and generally felt a bit fatigued.

Pilates was able to still give me my fix for strength  but also vastly improved my mobility and I became more in tune with my body,  it also gave me a greater sense of connection with myself. I also did Pilates throughout both my pregnancies which helped both pre and postnatally from both a physical and mental health perspective.

Coming from a nursing background  the science and rehabilitation focus of Pilates made me want to learn and know more to better understand my body. As I learnt more I wanted to share my knowledge and this practice with others so they could also experience all the amazing benefits Pilates has to offer.

The beauty of Pilates is that it is an exercise that anyone can do that can be adapted to the individual needs of each person. Some of the main benefits I see with my clients include

  • Injury Prevention
  • Improved Posture
  • Increase in body awareness
  • Reduction in tension and stress and improvement in mental well being.
  • Improvement in sleep
  • Increased strength and mobility
  • Improvement in physical function

I love that Pilates is a practice that continues to  evolve and that I can continue to develop my knowledge and skills. I like to keep things fresh and interesting and also continue to have new challenges for both myself and my clients.
