Asparagus, oh how we long for the days of when it’s available because, for us, it’s the epitome of spring!
Fresh, green, crispy and crunchy. The asparagus season is a short one, being only available in New Zealand from September to December.
Our fresh asparagus comes from NZ Gourmet in Pukekohe and Boyds Asparagus in Cambridge. It’s harvested daily once they’re vibrant in colour and ready to be picked.
They are then washed, trimmed and packed within hours of being picked, providing the freshest, tastiest and most flavoursome asparagus spears – from farm to plate just like that!
Here’s a tip: Treat asparagus like a bunch of flowers – stand them up in a tall glass with about two inches of water, or simply store in the fridge to keep deliciously crisp.
