Made in New Zealand and full of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, their new Magic Mince is bursting with flavour and jam packed full of plant-powered goodness. Designed to be eaten by omnivores, carnivores, vegans vegetarians and pescatarians – this is food for all.

By eating more plants we can do better by our bodies, the environment and our taste buds. The Food Nation philosophy is to make products full of  fresh vegetables, mushrooms, legumes, herbs and spices, and pack them together in joyous harmony.

Keeping freshness first and minimising processing, these new products are a celebration of the great tastes and textures plants offer, with all the added benefit of whole food nutrition – delicious, nutritious and expeditious.

While their first products mirror how we currently feed our families with plant-powered versions of minces, patties, balls and the like, they are quick to highlight that they are not trying to mimic meat. Their approach is all about delicious convenience everyone can enjoy.

There are often a lot of mixed messages around whether you can satisfy your nutritional needs eating just a plant based diet so lets dig into that a bit deeper.

The Food Nation approach ensures a healthy mix of high fibre, nutrient rich complex carbohydrates from vegetables and legumes, which also supply a broad spectrum of nutrients. Magic Mince, alongside other healthy plant foods can provide a well balanced diet.

Our bodies also need a good mix of the basic building blocks in the form of carbohydrates, fats and protein as well as fibre.

Magic Mince is an excellent source of fibre, not surprisingly given its ingredients and has a relatively low fat content. Magic mince has a reasonable level of complex carbohydrates, and plenty of plant based protein – one serving is 14% of your daily recommended protein (RDI)* – making it is a deliciously filling, satisfying and nutritious choice.

These products are a celebration of what plants can offer from a nutrition and taste perspective. Being made right here in NZ they are also a celebration of New Zealand innovation and creativity – hats off to the team at Food Nation!
