This Perky Nana Smoothie combines cocoa and banana for a deliciously creamy treat. It contains a secret ingredient — cauliflower (what can’t it do?!) Cauliflower makes your smoothie thick and creamy, but can’t be tasted and adds a nutritional hit with few calories.
1 head cauliflower, diced 1–2cm
1 cup diced, frozen (pre-steamed) cauliflower
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
½ cup water
½ frozen banana, peeled
2 tsp cacao or cocoa powder
2 Tbsp raw cashew nuts
1 tsp honey or 1 medjool date
1. Prep frozen cauli. Bring a large pot of water the boil. Add cauliflower to pot of boiling water and cook for 10–12 minutes, until very soft. Drain, cool, transfer to an air-tight container and freeze for use in smoothies.
2. Make smoothie. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend for 1–2 minutes, until smooth.
To serve, pour smoothie into a glass and enjoy immediately.
