A Spicy Supplier Duo

There’s a little bit of magic behind the creation of the pasta dish in the Gourmet Bag next week. It’s a spicy showcase of two Kiwi companies that have come together to tantalize our taste buds with their fresh saffron pappardelle pasta!

Cucina (pronounced Koo-Chee-Nah) is Italian for kitchen and cooking, and Cucina Foods do exactly that; creating fresh, mouthwatering pasta that will make your Italian Mamma proud.  Cucina Foods are passionate about all things culinary and take special interest in where their ingredients are sourced…. introducing the Marlborough Saffron Room!

The Marlborough Saffron Room are another proudly Kiwi owned and operated company who have used our nations well known ingenuity to grow saffron in the fertile ground between the rows of grapes on their vineyard!

Saffron is usually imported into NZ with varying quality. But never fear, this is where the Marlborough Saffron Room comes to the rescue. Their Kiwi grown saffron has been cleverly processed into a powerful, flavour-packed extract.

Cucina Foods use Marlborough Saffron in their flavoured pasta range. Their saffron pappardelle will be making an appearance on the Gourmet menu next week paired with Chicken and Cherry Tomato Ragu and Salsa Verde. So keep your eyes peeled and your tummy rumbling to chow down on some deliciously Kiwi made pasta!
